Year comes to an end - until 2013!!
Well - It's that time again where the FOA go into Hibernation until Mid - May. It's been a great year with loads of memories.
No rookies this year on FOA. Just a group of 8 guys & 7 girls that truly care about each other. No individuals, just 1 team. Our MVP and Captain Paolo Mascarin kept the ship steered in the right direction. Our younger players like Greer Hunt & Anna Snow are becoming veterans; and our veterans like Peter Thompson & Rebecca Coffey kept on playing with a passion and consistency - second to none.
In 2012, FOA only gave up 25 points in 14 games. That's not even 2 points a game. They scored the maximum number of points in record time. Short handed this summer - FOA called up past alumni players like Erin Kelland to answer the call. FOA also had to deal with a new team this year - called the Young Guns. Most of their players are of national level - and have incredible skill, talent, and experience. However, in the end FOA defeated Young Guns with their experience and team chemistry. The team wanted to get a final picture with Kevin Schmidt - who will be moving to Houston. The team was impacted by this Yankee from the south. His outgoing personality & entertainment skills will not be forgotten.
This year was the 1st time in 4 years that the playoffs were all on one day. FOA had an amazing time celebrating that night - and to quote Peter Thompson "It should be illegal to have this much fun". Ryan Davis wins the Trivia 2012 as well as the game "How well do you know your FOA teammates". The song "The Cupid Shuffle" that had taken FOA by storm for 2012 was once again played Saturday night. Everyone, yes even our MVP of the season - danced the night away!
The next night - FOA continued it's tradition by sailing on Greer Hunt Sr's boat out in Portugal Cove/St. Phillips. A very calm event, since most of FOA were still recovering from the previous night. Hunt Sr. did a phenomenal job of showing us a tour of Bell Island as well as making some of his famous Cowder!! All of us are gratefully that Greer Hunt Sr. took time out of his busy schedule to host the team. Until next year..... going for FOA's 6th straight summer league title.

Aug 25, 2012. Championship Game - FOA defeat Young Guns W 15 - 0
FOA defeated Young Guns W 15 - 0 in the finals of the summer league MZU Playoff day . FOA started strong using all players, starting off fast. The Young Guns did move the disc well - but always seemed to have a key drop or an errant pass to stop their drive. Ryan Davis kept the shut out alive by defending Jason Macdonald in the closing moments. Paolo then threw it deep to paddy snow, who threw it to Ryan Davis for the final point.
Final score - 15 -0. Paddy Snow was given the spirit player of the game. Kevin Schmidt was given the spirit player of the game for the Young Guns. Aug 23rd vs Young Guns W 15 -4
FOA faced Young Guns in the final regular season game of the 2012 Summer League MZU season. Fellowship of awesome have back from the past - Ms. Erin Kelland to play one game for the team. Erin played the 1st year FOA won the summer league title. She had her cleats, and her new FOA jersey, shorts, and scored the 1st point of the game!!!
FOA alumni steppin up!!! Big time! On the last day of the regular season, an average windy day caused for some interesting moments. FOA again started strong, and took an 8-2 lead into half. Young Guns mixed up their defense with zone, and scored 2 points to cut the lead to 11-4. FOA finished off the game with a 4-0 run, ending the game.
Ryan Davis, was given his first spirit award of the 2012 season. After getting raped by Kevin Schmidt in the 1st half, the Young Guns decided to make amends with the Young Davis. FOA finish 1st place overall in the league again, winning its 44 straight game.
Up next, FOA will face the Honey Badger's in the semi final game - Saturday afternoon.

Aug 21th vs Bohemian Fantasy W 15 -4
Fellowship of awesome defeated a short handed Bohemian Fantasy 15 -4 in MZU Summer league frisbee action on Tuesday night. An overcast, muddy field caused for a lackluster game - as everyone prepares for the playoffs on Saturday. FOA started strong with an 8-0 lead at half. Bofan did come to play and could of scored more points in the 2nd half. Spirit player of the game was Anna Snow.
7 of FOA's roster are just coming back from Nationals where they finished a respectful 9th place. Overcoming injuries and sickness, FOA are prepared to take on Young Guns Thursday night, then gear up for Saturday's playoff schedule. FOA are focused and ready to claim their 5th straight MZU league title. Young Guns up next.

Aug 13th vs Disc Whisperers W 7-0
Not much to say. Game was cancelled, then rescheduled, then cancelled, and seems like it won't be rescheduled. FOA win by default W 7-0. First time in the history of the team - that an opposing team could not field a team in a 3 week period. Going to let this one go for now.
July 31th vs Young Guns W 15 - 4
Fellowship of Awesome took on a short handed Young Guns roster Tuesday, at MQP. Young Guns had to go back to the future, and picked up 3 players including Suzy Stever & Greg Pike. FOA missing 3 girls started off slow, and the score was tied at 2-2 in the beginning of the game. FOA started to play with more intensity after a Time Out from Paolo at 6-3. FOA took an 8-3 lead into half.
Little wind, but a beaten up field caused for a few interesting moments. Peter Thompson played well with 5 points, and Rebecca Coffey called her own number with a solid defensive performance. The Young Guns without any subs - started to run out of gas during the 2nd half. FOA didn't look back and finished the 3rd Ladder schedule game with a 15 -4 win. Only 3 games left until playoffs.

July 24th vs Honey Badger W 15 - 2
FOA faced the Honey Badger's today at Brother Egan. With the return of the Snow Sisters, FOA took to the dry field in above average windy conditions. Fellowship for the 1st time had it's full male roster. The FOA women, who are still trying to work out a system to ensure 3 are on at a time - played solid. Nat O. Rebecca Coffey, Aimee S. and Gina Reid scored 6 of the first 8 points. FOA took a 8-2 lead at half. FOA finish the game - W 15 -2. Derrick wins the spirit award.
A calm start to the game corresponded to the FOA week. FOA have a very important date on Friday to Attend! Patrick Snow & Jessica Wade are going to walk down the isle. Correct that - Paddy is going to walk; Jess is going to Limp!! Congratulations to the newly weds. It will be an incredible day - as Mr. Andrew Tobin is the Master of Ceremonies!!! It will be the only time this year - that the Full FOA roster will be together. Picture to be taken at Feildian grounds!!

July 17 vs Bohemian Fantasy W 15 - 1
FOA started the 3rd ladder against a short handed Bohemian Fantasy who only had 7 players. FOA playing with only 3 girls - started strong again. Aimee Sheppard, Nat O and Bec Coffey scored 7 of the first 8 points of the game. Ms. Sheppard made an amazing attempt to jump out of bounds - and throw the disc back into play. However, no one was there to complete the pass. FOA took an 8-0 lead into half time.
With our Spirit champion, Roger Crowley back from DRL (aka Marystown) - the FOA men were still recovering from Saturday night's marathon on Newhook drive. Roger scored 2 points, called a foul on himself on Little Low, and then won spirit on the game. Imagine Roger winning Spirit player for FOA. Shocker! The game was very relaxed & had hardly any wind. Andrew Tobin made an incredible attempt to catch FOA's 3rd Callahan of the season - but just barely missed it. Final Score 15 -1 . Up next.... the Honey Badgers'.... who lost to the Young Guns 15 - 7 .

July 10 vs Young Guns W 15 - 0
On a beautiful sunny, but very windy Tuesday afternoon - Fellowship of Awesome faced the Young Guns for the 2nd times this year at Kitty Gaul. A Sunny day with strong wind provided a great evening for frisbee. FOA again started strong and moved the disc against the zone - going up 5-0. Young Guns missing Nick Delaney and Kevin Schmidt - had difficulty with the cross wind. Fellowship didn't let up.
Their zone was relentless - and the Young Guns had to fight for completed pass. Strong Mid -zone play by Bec Coffey, Gina Reid combined with a strong cup of Paddy Snow, Nat O'Donnell and Aimee Sheppard - was too much for the Guns. FOA took an 8-0 lead into halftime.
The wind didn't let down in the 2nd half. FOA again started strong - and ignored the wind. 10 minutes into the second half - Ms. Natalie O'donnell caught her 1st Callahan!!!!!! Way to go Nat!! This seemed to push FOA even harder - and they never looked back. Paolo Mascarin, Paddy Snow, and Bec Coffey all handled very strong in the wind. Final score 15 - 0. 2nd Ladder system has now been completed for FOA. Peter Thompson was given Spirit player of the game.

July 6 vs Bohemian Fantasy W 15 -0
FOA takes on Bofan this evening at MQP, 7pm. In wet & foggy conditions, Fellowship of awesome defeated Bohemian Fantasy 15 - 0 at MQP on Friday. FOA had the most players dressed for any game this year - 11!. FOA started off strong and went up 6-0 on strong play by Gina Reid, Anna Snow, & Andrew Tobin. 8-0 at half, both teams decided to skip half and continue play. FOA continued their strong play - and continued to force Bohemian Fantasy to throw into the wind. Great Defense by Paddy snow, Greer Hunt, and Aimee Sheppard. FOA are still undefeated in summer league play @ 5-0. Up next - Young Guns on Tuesday, July 10.
July 4 vs Wonkey Donkeys W 15 -4
FOA hadn't played in 16 days. Still working on a shortened roster vs Donkey. Hardly any wind - and a perfect day for frisbee. FOA looked a little sluggish in the 1st half - but still lead 8-1 at half. Ryan Davis, Natalie O'donnell, & Paddy Snow all played consistently. Donkey actually scored 3 straight points at one part of the game. Injured Peter Thompson played his first game of the year. Anna Snow also injured her ankle in the 2nd half.
Not much to say about this game. FOA with too much time off because of rescheduled games - had issues with motivating themselves to play up to their level of play and not their opponents. Andrew Tobin played the whole game - while the female girls finally had enough for a sub. Spirit player of the game was Anna Snow. No room to rest - another game vs Bohemian Fantasy - Friday at MQP.

June 19 vs Young Guns W 15 - 3
Rematch of the Finals last year. Both teams had depleted line ups. The Young Guns were without injured Nick Delaney & Kevin Schmidt. FOA were missing Peter T, Greer H, Paddy Snow with illness, Jess Wade out with the ACL injury, and Aimee Sheppard on work travel.
On the most beautiful day of the summer to date, FOA defeated the Young Guns 15 - 3 at Brother Egan. Little Wind and a strong sun - didn't phase either team. FOA again jumped out fast with the help of Captain Paolo Mascarin. The captain decided to play Wide Receiver and scored the first 3 of 4 points.
However his leadership provided a short 9 player line up with enough motivation. There is no one to leave out. FOA took an 8-2 lead into half. At 6 -2, Rebecca "Sleepy" coffey deflected a pass into the endzone on defense, and Ryan Davis caught his 1st ever Callahan!!! Stats Frisbee - are giving Ms. Coffey a callahan as well. Roger crowley back from offshore, played solid in his 1st game back. Andrew Tobin had a 100% catching percentage. Ms. Nat O'Donnell - almost missing the game as well due to family sickness - played solid defense.
Everyone played solid after half & continued to play solid defense - while only giving up 1 point in the 2nd half. Final Score 15 - 3. Everyone emptied the tank - and finished the 1st round - undefeated. Paolo coming back from Montreal - continued his solid play by scoring 4 points and almost playing the whole game. Mascarin also wins the Spirit award. It was a complete team win. FOA will wait for the ladder to reset.

June 12 vs Bohemian Fantasy - W 15 -2.
Little wind combined with a Bright yellow object in the sky served for an incredible Tuesday evening at MQP. FOA faced Bohemian Fantasy for the first time since the semi-finals last year. Fellowship of Awesome started strong again - jumping out to a 8-1 lead at half. Gina Ried, Nat O'Donnell & Rebecca Coffey carried the offense with 10 points.
Bohemian Fantasy played a solid zone for most of the game - that made FOA have to continually move the disc from side to side up the field. New comers Stef Barnes and Alex Bill back playing with the Chocolatier should provide stability to a solid team. Rookie Kendal Car Micheal - won the Long Dicks Sausage Emperium Spirit Award. Patrick Snow - who laided out for the 1st time for a point - won the award for FOA. Final score 15 - 2. FOA wins its 2nd game of the season.

Guess Who!!??!?!!?
When he's not playing in a rock and roll band, or making sure his son's Ultimate Frisbee team is having a rockin' year end summer party, you'll probably find Greer Hunt Senior on Major's path making sure he is moving things safely from Point A to Point B.
This latest photo, supplied by Dr. Patrick Snow - shows a young Greer Hunt Senior probably more worried about his next jig - than what he would do with the rest of his life.
At a Hunt's birthday party at Boston Pizza, where everyone on FOA was invited; Greer Hunt Sr. showed he could definitely keep up with the FOA hooligans with his sharp & keen wit. As he was leaving - and not knowing everyone's names yet - he summed it up like this...."Later Davis'... Later Snow's." The Davis brothers still roar at that one - to this day!
Mr. & Mrs. Hunt's generosity/support towards the team has been overwhelming & the Fellowship of Awesome would like to personally thank the Hunt family for being a valuable part of the team's social event calender!

Long Dicks Sausage Emperium - Joins with FOA !!!!!!
One fine summer day, Ms. Aimee Sheppard & Peter Thompson were walking down Duckworth street. Minding their own business - decided to try a sausage from Steve Smith's new business. Peter Thompson - being a master in "fluff" conversation asked Smith if he was doing any advertising. Smith said that he was always looking for new creative ideas - to grow the business the right way. No sooner did the words come out of his mouth - but did Aimee & Peter have an idea of their own.
They explained to Smith that they play on a local frisbee team, with over 28 teams in the league and over 400 people. After every game - there is a spirit award given to one player on the opposing team. They asked Smith if he wanted to be the 1st ever - Long Dick's Sausage Emperium Spirit award. Smith didn't hesitate - and jumped on board.
Last Tuesday - FOA played the Honey Bagders at Kitty Gaul field. Mr. Matthew White was presented with the 1st ever "Long Dick's Sausage Emperium Spirit Award." Congratulations!!! More to come in the future!!

June 5 vs Honey Badger -- W 15 -1
FOA started it's run for a 5th straight Flaterty cup Tuesday night vs the Honey Badgers. With limited numbers - FOA started strong and never looked back. Foggy and wet conditions never stopped FOA from moving the disc up and down the field.
FOA took an 8-1 lead at halftime and finished the 2nd half the way the 1st one ended. Scoring 7 straight points - winning 15-1. Natalie O'Donnell won the spirit player of the game. Nat only playing 1/2 of the game - still managed to score 4 points in the second half. FOA's Captain Paolo said at halftime - the team really didn't play well during the 1st half. Giving up one point - is 1 too many for the comeback Captain. Up next - Bohemian Fantasy.

2012 Winter League Champs! Hot Sauce
Captain Rebecca Coffey & "Hot Sauce" defeated Paolo Mascarin's "Sexy Results" team 14-11 in Winter league action at the Technip in Plesantville Monday night in the capital city. A very competitive game from beginning to end.
Hot Sauce started fast & jumped out to a 8-2 lead. Defensive plays from Arron Greene limited Paolo's offensive attack. Sexy Results held strong and did finish the half strong to 11-4. In one of the famous quotes of the night just before the 2nd half - Mr. Mascarin told the Peanut Gallery " Get your popcorn ready!!" With that the comeback started. Paolo & his partner in crime, Ryan Davis; brought the team back to one point at 11-10; with only 8 minutes left.
Peter Thompson & Coffey wern't going to left this one slip away. Scoring the next 2 points, Hot Sauce prevailed with a 14-11 win. Overall, the game was very competitive. Both teams made mistakes but never gave up. Angela Wareham & Arron Greene were the X Factors that gave Hot Sauce the edge. Arron made about 5 huge defensive plays, while Angela scored about 5 points. This is Peter's 3rd league title in a row, and Rebecca's 1st Winter league title.
